The Crimson Court trinkets act as a set, and whether used together or apart they're worth the risk of a little extra stress - especially when used together, as it greatly improves his chance of getting a Virtue when his resolve is tested.
If you have the DLC, those are the trinkets you'll want to go after. Crystalline Gunpowder from Colors of Madness reduces his Stun resist like Flashfire Gunpowder does, but improves his damage and Speed over just boosting his ranged attacks. All his base trinkets trade off one thing for another, as the sheaths improve melee and movement but reduce his ranged skills, while the buckles improve ranged skills at the cost of his melee moves. Stalwart Buckle is one you should pass on too, as the greater stress and lower Virtue chance isn't a fair tradeoff for higher Crits. However, the Highwayman's disarm ability is so high already this doesn't seem like a fair tradeoff. The Drifter's Buckle trades Dodge for stress and boosts his ability to disarm a trap. The Highwayman has several trinkets to pick from, mostly buckles and sheaths.
